1. What is BeTwin 2000/XP and Buddy B-680?

BeTwin / Buddy enables two to five users to share the computing power and resources of a single computer. All users can simultaneously perform any tasks that they would perform on a standard Windows 2000 Professional or Server and Windows XP Home or Professional Edition.

2. Why would I want to buy BeTwin 2000/XP and Buddy B-680?

BeTwin / Buddy helps you to reduce the cost of adding computing stations by:

* Reducing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)

3. What is the recommended System requirements?

Pentium III 800 MHz or faster, install with Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional or Server and Windows XP Home or Professional Edition, and minimum 512MB of RAM for 5 users. CPU must have USB ports and available PCI slot for each user.

4. Can users surf the Internet at the same time?

Yes, one of the best features of BeTwin / Buddy is that all users can surf the Internet on different websites at the same time, using just one telephone line, one modem and one Internet Service Provider account.

5. Does BeTwin / Buddy support faster modems?

Yes, BeTwin / Buddy supports 28.8K, 33.6K and 56K modems. It also supports ISDN, ASL, ADSL Cable, T1 and any broadband connection.

6. Can I share peripherals, like a printer or CD Rom?

Yes, all users can share the same peripheral devices.

7. Does BeTwin / Buddy allow me to view video clips and listen to music?

Yes, you can view the video clip on the BeTwin / Buddy station. If sound is required at the station, only Buddy B-680 Premium have external USB Audio Hub for you to connect to additional speaker for each station.

8. Can both users use the same program at the same time?

Most software products will allow all users to open and edit different documents at the same time, using the same program. Each user can also use different software products, concurrently. Users who intend to run the software products concurrently on the BeTwin / Buddy Stations and Host Computer are advised to review the Software Products' End User License Agreement.

9. Will multiple users of a single program make my computer work slower?

Most applications, once booted up, will run nearly as fast as with one user including Modem communications. Activities that place the most demand on the computer's resources (games and video clips) may experience some slowing, but most users will notice little difference in speed or performance.

10. Can I use DOS applications with BeTwin / Buddy?

BeTwin / Buddy stations support windowed DOS prompts under Windows 2000 Professional or Server Edition and Windows XP Home or Professional Edition. You can run DOS applications and access DOS command prompt from BeTwin / Buddy Station.

11. Can I add BeTwin / Buddy to a computer network (e.g. LAN)?

Yes, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Novell Netware networks are supported. You only require one network node (one network card and one IP address) for all the users. Users can login to the network by using different user names and passwords on each station.

12. How can I prevent user from other station shutting down the computer?

The Security Policy Settings in Windows 2000 Professional or Server and Windows XP Professional Edition allow the Administrator to control certain user's privileges, as well as control certain actions allowed for the user. Administrator can modify the security-relevant settings, including user's rights to shut down Windows, by configuring the Local Security Policy.

13. When both users open a same file, can they save the file at the same time?

It depends on the types of applications you are running. Some applications will provide full read and write privileges to the user who opened or accessed the file first, the other users may then have read only privilege.

14. What is the maximum USB cable length that BeTwin / Buddy station can support?

BeTwin / Buddy station can support up to the maximum of 150ft (30m). Under USB specifications, an active USB hub is required for every 5-meter interval and a total of five (5) USB hubs can be used in one chain.

15. What is the maximum video cable length that i-Share can support?

It can support up to the maximum of 90ft (30m). To get a good display quality, double-shielded video cable is recommended.

16. Can several users access the same CD-ROM at the same time?

Yes, it depends on the CD-ROM contents to be accessed.

17. How can I protect the data on the computer from unauthorized access?

Windows 2000 Professional or Server and Windows XP Professional or Home Edition allow users to set, view, change, or remove file and folder permissions. However, you can set file and folder permissions only on drives formatted to use NTFS.
